Lipki park

When 1080 of linden were planted in the city centre, Lipki park was founded. It was originally called the Alexander parkway or City, the name of limes first appeared in 1876. In 1877, the Park began to operate a greenhouse for growing seedlings . By this time the Park had become a favorite place of citizens for whom it had pavilions with tea, sweets, milk, ice cream, on the main Avenue a band was playing. In the early twentieth century kerosene lighting was gradually replaced by electric in 1908 in Alexander workshops of a vocational school was made of wrought iron fence on the sketches of S. V. Chehonin. In the 1930-ies the Park was renamed the City garden named after Maxim Gorky, however, the new name is not caught . Later the stadium of "Dynamo" appeared . The park limes do not change their borders for over a century. The limes were declared a natural monument of regional significance and object of historical and cultural heritage of Federal importance. Now in the park there are more than thousands of trees and three hundred shrubs, including poplar, pine trees, hazels, rowans, lilacs, lindens and maples. Along with City Park Lipki Park is the main recreational area of Saratov.
